i will be binning six old suction gun’s . and grabbing a couple of the guns you use they are heaps lighter and more precise . . i have a 2.5 compressor and a fair length of hose for the air to get through , lot of paint loss or unnecessary paint use due to over spray . I hope the price of alloy scrap has increased get something back for the old tubs . cheers

  3. It seems, from all …
It seems, from all the videos and advertisements, that everybody is in love with HVLP and gravity feed guns. I guns I’ve seen require 5 or 6 CFM (or more). My compressor is rated at 3.8 CFM at 90 PSI, so that piece of trash you threw away is the only one I can use with what I have.

  5. What a crock 15 cfm …
What a crock 15 cfm to run a suction gun, I have an 8 cfm compressor and it easily keeps up with my gun and pressure pot, also can spray at any angle. As for cleaning the gun with a suction cup, only takes a couple of minutes when you know what you are doing.

  9. @eyewarnedyou you …
@eyewarnedyou you have 30 years experience, so just experiment with the paint flow /air pressure.
primer – base coat – lacquer – enamel all spray very differently so need different settings
yes it can take quite a bit of trial and adjusting to get perfect atomization with any gun,
I have seen examples of large paint droplets (orange peel) backing off the paint flow and building up with 3 coats instead of 2 heavy is good technique .

  10. I have watched 3 …
I have watched 3 of your videos back to back now. When I read your responses to peoples questions, I am now reading in your dialect. Perhaps I need a break. I will certainly come back to these videos to learn more. Great Job. Thanks.

Top video. I have been mulling over which style of gun to purchase. You’ve helped me make my mind up :)

  14. Thanks for this tip …
Thanks for this tip Restolad. I’ve struggled for years to use my suction feed gun and have always ended up with a so-so finish and with my poor 8CFM 25litre compressor running flat out! Never mind all the wasted paint etc! The gun was recommended to me by my paint supplier (I did tell them the size of my compressor) And had been led to believe that Gravity fed guns needed much MORE CFM – hence haven’t bought one. Maybe I will now! Chris.
