New TxDOT Safety Traffic Tools to Increase Safety for Motorists & Highway Construction Workers

With safety being the top priority at the Texas Department of Transportation, the agency is raising awareness of three new tools designed to help reduce crashes, fatalities and injuries on Texas roadways. The Safety Tools — Automated Flagger Assistance Devices (AFADs), temporary rumble strips and flashing-yellow, left-turn arrows — are now being used in Texas and will see expanded service throughout the state in the coming months.     The whine of that arm makes it sound like a cheap cobbled together piece of junk. You would think that they could come up with a better piece of equipment than that.
    The so called Rumble Strips work OK until a gravel truck slams on the brakes and slides them down the road.

    May want a stronger motor on that arm…had “I think you can, I think you can…” going through my head. Also that flag looked a little flimsy. But I like it!
