BMW facility and tool making

In the tool and plant engineering facility at the BMW factory in Munich so called water cooled press methods are developed. These cooled press tools enhance the safety of the car and decrease CO2 emissions because the lighter material. Have a closer look at the process.

But i agree, every car maker is trying his best to reduce his cost while making the car. But i think there;s secrets how to do this.

  2. I dont think that …
I dont think that BMW construct the 1 series because of the reason that you mention. The 1 series as i see in my country in other become popular among the woman and girls rather than among the man. I dont claim that bmw attacked womans market by 1 series but its obvious when you look at the selling reports. My point is M3 & M5 were always popular among the people who like high speed despite its weight or whatsoever. I mean 2 kg lighter or hevier it didnt bother me at all either.

  3. the “bmw having no …
the “bmw having no competition statement” is debatable but i don’t think it’s worth debating. Perhaps you are better off looking at what the older, lighter, more fun BMWs were like and why. After all, bmw is making the 1 series m because the current M3 is just as heavy as an old M5 and is no longer as fun as the M3 used to be. Over the years BMW and many other car companies have combated unnecessary weight with brute power, improving 0-60 times but making the cars less fun to corner

  4. Man, dont explain …
Man, dont explain me this . I dont know how about you , but i studied this at school. I know the relation between light metal and its mpact to vehicle speed, safety , consumption etc.
My point was the BMW performance does better as always despite how much does their car weight, ok?
    It ‘s out of competition

  5. Before i call you a …
Before i call you a fanboy, i’ll explain why low weight is important. A heavier car requires more power to match a lighter car’s acceleration, more fuel, it wears away tires, brakes and other components faster, it has poorer braking and cornering and it is more dangerous to other road users and pedestrians due to greater momentum at any given time and a lower likelihood of avoiding an accident and it also requires more resources and energy to produce.

  6. Are you carrieng …
Are you carrieng the car by hand? Why many of you want to intruduce himself as professor or greatest engineer in machine production, WHO ARE you? dont ASK STUPID QUESTIONS , THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, AT ALL ..
IT;S CAR EVENTUALLY it has a lot of steel used for engine , wheel , steer , brakes ETC… it’s all metal.. NOT Plastic!!!!!!!!!!! Even if it;s 10 TOnn , and if this car can maintain the safety , productivity , high speed, enviromentally friendly, SO JUST ENJOY…

  7. Man its; not …
Man its; not heavier , It depends what you cal lheavier….iT;S NOT SPORT FORMULA 1 car, .. it;s passenger vechile.. so it has average weight which is allowable by car producing standards.

  8. Did you watch to …
Did you watch to video completely? Watch it again.
He says that despite reducing the thikness of the material , inside material being strenghened by applying heat and cold processing also adding different kind elements into material. So which makes the it stronger.

  9. This is complete …
    This is complete bullshit..

There is significant energy used in this added secondary heat treatment process; ranging from heating the steel and then extracting all that heat from the cooling water the energy in the power press (and in the making of it!) not forgetting all the energy used in making another more involved press tool all for what? A weight saving probably less than that of a mobile phone battery!!

  10. I understand the …
I understand the new regulations both saftey and fuel ecomony, but tell me why Porsche was able to shave 200+ pounds off their new Cayenne and is still abiding by Europe’s new regulations… Granted I get Porsche has the financial backing of Audi/ VW but that USE TO BE BMW’s thing lightweight amazing handling vehicles. Now we have everything being turboed, less road feel, and vehicles that need a diet…

  11. New Safety …
New Safety Regulations, that is why all the new “supercars” are so heavy compared to the old ones.

  12. Well uhm, no shit. …
Well uhm, no shit. But this is BMW.. Some nice things come with a price. There already ARE ways to save the environment, so why not try some alternative FUELS instead of reducing the material that the car is made of, therfore threatening the safety of the passangers, DUMBASS! Why save the planet if you can’t even save the LIVES that live on it!!

  13. It´s not just gas …
It´s not just gas consumption dumbass!! We are talking about the environment, everyone knows this is an important issue!

  14. BMW is simply top …
BMW is simply top of the line in manufacturing, great stuff.

  15. So if BMW is …
So if BMW is striving to make light cars, why were the E30’s around 1200 kg and the current three series is well over 400 kgs heavier? I understand why, but I find it amusing that they say that they are building lighter cars.

  16. thats why if you …
thats why if you want to buy a car that sucks up all the oil when you start it and has all the plastic on it inside then you need to buy this luxury cars..

  17. So you’re saying I …
So you’re saying I have a point? cuz you replied to me, jussayin’. haha :]

but yeah, I know. I’m american, from Tennessee.. but I can’t stand the automobiles we produce >.< yes, some are great, GT40 and old muscle.. but I mean c’mon, what’s been good lately that’s american? nothing. that’s why we’re in such a slum of economy, we’re still stuck in the past like a bunch of monkey’s thinking the banana is the greatest thing ever. xD

  18. He has a point, yea …
He has a point, yea i love bmw, merc and audi but if u have the cash to buy em, im pretty sure u can fork up some gas. Quality over Quantity for euro, and vis versa for american.

  19. No, I dispize them. …
No, I dispize them. They’re an insult to manufacturing. I mean.. sure; they’re getting better.. But it’s 2010 and they’re JUST now getting to the point of putting materials in their vehicles that don’t fall off after one year! so yeah, they still suck! And if BMW is going to start making ALL their vehicles out of metal sheets instead of usual construction, then I guess I’m going to have to start dreaming of owning a mercedes or something else than my beloved Bimmer.. =/
